Entering the Kingdom is not about feelings or personal ideas. It requires total obedience to the commands given by Yahushua. Water baptism is one of those commands. It is not a ritual you can skip or put off. It is for everyone who turns from sin and wants to walk as a true disciple.
What Does Baptism Mean?
Baptism means total immersion in water. You go completely under. Going under the water shows that your old, sinful way of life is dead and buried. When you come up out of the water, it shows that you are ready to walk clean and leave behind the works of the flesh.
This is what Paul wrote: “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahushua the Messiah were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as the Messiah was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3-4).
Along with turning away from sin, baptism is one of the very first basic steps every believer must take (Hebrews 6:1-2).
How Is Baptism Performed?
True baptism is done by going completely under the water one time in the name of Yahushua. Scripture shows that the Apostles baptized in the name of Yahushua because that is the single name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
On the day of Pentecost, Peter said, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahushua the Messiah for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). The Ethiopian eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him (Acts 8:36-38). There was no sprinkling. There was no second or third dunk. It was one complete immersion in the name of Yahushua.
