Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 31, 2026

This policy explains what information Taught of Yah collects through taughtofyah.com and learn.taughtofyah.com (the “website”) and the Bible Reader app for Android and iPhone (the “app”), how we use it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms and Conditions.

Taught of Yah is a Bible teaching work, not a company or registered organization. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

1. What we collect on the website

Newsletter. If you sign up for updates, we collect your email address. It is used only to send our newsletter and news about Taught of Yah. Sign-ups and emails are handled by our email providers, Mailchimp and Brevo, which store your email address and may record whether emails are delivered and opened. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Prayer requests. If you submit a prayer request, we receive your name, your email address, and your request (900 characters or fewer). Prayer requests may be shared with the Taught of Yah prayer group so they can pray for you. Please don’t include anything you want kept private. We use your email only if we need to reply to you.

Contact messages. If you write to us through the Contact Us page or by email, we receive your name, email address, and message, and use them to reply.

Taught of Yah University and accounts. Taught of Yah University (learn.taughtofyah.com) runs on the Academy LMS plugin for WordPress. If you create an account there, we collect your name, email address, username, and password (stored scrambled, never in plain text), plus your course enrollments, course progress, and test and quiz results. We use this to run your account, track your progress, and show your results to you. Course instructors and site administrators can see your progress and results.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser details. Your name, website, and comment may be shown publicly; your email address is not. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, a service from Automattic, which receives the comment, your IP address, and browser details. Some forms also use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam; Google receives information about your device and how you use the page, under Google’s privacy policy.

Donations. You can give through Cash App or Zelle, or by credit card through our donation form, which is processed by PayPal. Those services handle your payment under their own privacy policies. We never receive or store your card number. We may receive your name, email address, the amount, and the date, and we keep these as a record of your gift.

Website notifications. If you allow browser notifications from our website, our notification provider, OneSignal, receives a push identifier for your browser and basic technical details, so we can tell you when a lesson goes live. You can turn these off in your browser settings at any time.

Embedded videos. Many pages show our YouTube videos. When you play an embedded video, or in some cases when the page loads, YouTube (Google) may collect information and set cookies under Google’s privacy policy.

Server logs. Our website is hosted by A2 Hosting. Like any website, our server automatically logs basic information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working.

Analytics. We may use Google Analytics (including through Google Site Kit) and Jetpack Stats (from Automattic) to understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and general device and location information based on IP address. These services may use cookies or similar technologies, and Google and Automattic process this information under their own privacy policies and may use it to provide and improve their services. We use the reports only to improve the website. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and you can block or delete analytics cookies in your browser settings.

Cookies. The website uses cookies needed for it to work, such as keeping you signed in, remembering comment details if you choose, and processing donation forms, and analytics cookies as described above. We don’t use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work.

We don’t collect phone numbers or postal addresses on the website.

2. Bible Reader app

What stays on your device. Your notes, highlights, bookmarks, journal, reading plans and progress, custom references, settings, and reminders are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Your device may include them in its own backup (your Google account on Android, iCloud on iPhone). That backup is controlled by you and Google or Apple, and we can’t access it. Uninstalling the app removes them from the device.

Journal. Your journal entries are stored on your device and are not sent to Taught of Yah. If backup is turned on in your device settings, your iCloud or Google backup may include them. If you use Export my data, the exported file includes your journal and goes wherever you choose.

No account. The app has no sign-in, no ads, no ad tracking, and no analytics or crash-reporting tools.

Live lesson alerts. If you agree to live lesson alerts and allow notifications, the app registers your device with our push notification provider, OneSignal, which delivers alerts through Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android and Apple Push Notification service on iPhone. They receive a device push identifier; basic technical details needed to deliver notifications, such as device model, operating system, language, and time zone; and when you open the app and whether you open an alert, which OneSignal uses to measure delivery. We use this only to send lesson alerts and to see whether they are delivered and opened. OneSignal doesn’t start until you turn alerts on. You can turn alerts off at any time in Settings > Live lesson alerts.

Questions you send. If you use “Ask” in the app, we receive your question, the Bible passage it is about, the app version, a random ID the app creates when it is installed, and a random ID for that question. We never ask for your name. Please don’t put your name or other personal details in your question.

Your email (optional). If you give us your email with a question, we use it only to tell you once that your question has been answered. Then we delete it. If your question isn’t answered, we delete your email after 90 days. Your email is never shown publicly and is never sent to our spam filter.

Spam checks. We check questions for spam with Akismet, a service from Automattic. Akismet receives the question, your IP address, and basic app details (the user agent), never your email. Akismet may use what it receives to improve its spam detection. Questions marked as spam are deleted after 30 days.

Abuse limits and duplicates. Our website keeps scrambled (salted hash) versions of your install ID and IP address for up to 30 days after your last question, to limit how many questions can be sent. It keeps a scrambled version of the question ID for 24 hours so a retried question isn’t saved twice. We don’t keep the original values.

Who sees your question. Questions are stored on our website, which is run by our hosting provider, and new questions are emailed to the Taught of Yah admin mailbox. Answers are credited only to “Taught of Yah.” If we answer your question, we may lightly edit it and publish it with the answer on taughtofyah.com and in the app, without your name. Unanswered questions are not made public. Questions you send are also listed under My questions on your device, where you can remove them at any time.

Content, updates, and live status. The app downloads reading plans, answers, lesson references, the live and schedule status, and a notice when a new version is available, from taughtofyah.com. These requests contain no personal information. Like any website visit, our server may briefly log your IP address for security.

3. How we share information

We share information only:

  • with the prayer group, for prayer requests, as described above;
  • with the service providers that help run the Services (A2 Hosting, OneSignal, Akismet, Google, Automattic, Mailchimp, Brevo, PayPal, Cash App, and Zelle), only for that purpose;
  • publicly, for comments you post and questions we answer (without your name);
  • when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of anyone or the security of the Services.

We don’t sell personal information.

4. How long we keep it

We keep information as long as reasonably needed for Taught of Yah’s purposes, including records we may need for legal or financial reasons, and then delete or de-identify it. This applies to everything we hold, including newsletter sign-ups, prayer requests, messages, accounts and course records, comments, donation records, app questions, and server logs. Information in the Bible Reader app that stays on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app.

5. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing TaughtofYah@gmail.com. We honor reasonable requests, except for records we need to keep for legal or financial reasons. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter, turn off alerts, and delete app data on your device at any time. For an app question, tell us the passage and what you asked. We’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, and we’ll honor them as required.

Nevada residents. Under Nevada law (NRS 603A), you can ask us not to sell personal information we have collected about you. We don’t sell personal information, but you can still send an opt-out request to TaughtofYah@gmail.com with the subject “Nevada opt-out,” and we’ll confirm it within 60 days.

6. Children

The website and app are not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, such as secure (HTTPS) connections and scrambling app IDs. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

8. Links to other sites

The Services link to other websites and services, such as YouTube and the app stores. Their own privacy policies apply, and we aren’t responsible for their practices.

9. Changes to this policy

We’ll post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If the app’s data practices change, we’ll update this page before the change is released.
