Do you want to give the rest of your life to the authority, protection, and love of the Son of God? Praise Yah! Here is what you need to know. There are 66 books in the Bible, and every one of them helps make a man or woman complete for salvation. So if you are new, where do you start?
His way is easy, but it is not without challenges. Your walk begins with a decision. Commit to Him by confessing from the heart that Yahushua, also called Jesus, is Master, and that His death and resurrection give Him full authority over your life (Romans 10:9). If you truly believe this, your actions will show it. You will obey whatever His Word teaches, no matter how it feels, for the rest of your life.
This means turning away from the sins that keep people out of the Kingdom of God (Mark 7:21-23, Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). If you stumble, it is because you were not walking in the light (John 11:9-10). Then thank God for His grace and for another chance to walk in the truth before He requires your soul. It may seem hard, or even impossible. But the way of Yah is not hard. It is the way of sinners that is hard (Proverbs 13:15). And nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
You will be challenged to give up the place that family, friends, and even you yourself have held in your life, so you can live righteously. People will disagree with you. Until you understand the Word well, all the different opinions and denominations will be confusing. This is a test to see whether you trust His Word or just go along with the crowd. Some traditions you used to enjoy, and some activities you used to take part in, will need to go. The things that made you happy, and the way you saw the world, will all change. So first, ask yourself: do you have what it takes?
In Luke 14:23-33, Jesus, whose name is Yahushua in Hebrew, told the great crowds following Him to think about whether they had what it takes to be His disciples.
Once you are sure that God’s promises are worth it, and you are ready to give the rest of your life to faithful obedience to the Word, it is time to learn what the Word really says. This reading plan is advice, not a command from Scripture. Taught of Yah suggests starting with the Gospels, because they tell us the most about our Savior and teach us about salvation. Choose one of the Gospels, then work your way through the New Testament. After that, start at Genesis. You will see how much you still do not understand. Read from Genesis all the way back to the New Testament, and keep doing this for the rest of your life.
Your first time reading the Bible straight through will probably be hard. Some parts may seem “dry” at first. There are many family lists that seem to name every member of our ancestors’ families, and they can be hard to get through. But stay committed. In time you will see the value in the details you first thought were a waste of time. The Word is amazingly connected and deep. The more you learn, the more you see there is to learn. You will also find out how easy it is to make a mistake and misread the Word if you do not consider all of it.
