takes shall come according to the families thereof and the family which [19:34] the lord shall take shall come by household in the household which the lord shall take shall come man by man [19:39] and it shall be that he that is taken with the accursed things shall be burnt with fire he and all that [19:45] he has because he has transgressed the covenant of the lord and because he has wrought folly in israel right so what [19:51] they ended up doing is casting lots and you know i'm saying it's not exactly clear to me at least you know i'm saying [19:57] exactly what lots are but think of it like uh think of it like the concept of like drawing straws or dice or something [20:03] like that right it's a it's a thing of chance right and you could choose you could use this thing a chance to choose between [20:10] sometimes one or two objects you know what i'm saying or multiple objects so what he's telling what the most like god [20:16] is describing is he's like what you're going to do is you're going to take all the tribes and you're going to cast lots [20:22] to identify one of all the tribes and then you're going to take that one tribe and you're going to take all the clans [20:28] and you're going to identify one clan out of all the clans of that tribe then you're going to come to that one clan [20:34] and you're gonna take all the families and you're gonna identify one family of all that clan [20:39] and then you're gonna end up getting to a head of the household and that's gonna be the individual that by chance you [20:45] just casting lots or drawing straws or whatever and it's coming down to one person and then you go another level [20:50] lower and you keep doing that until you identify the person who uh who's gonna be held responsible for this so let's [20:57] see how joshua will carry out this order yeah and it shall be oh so joshua rose up early in the morning [21:03] and brought israel by their tribes and the tribe of judah was taken and he brought the family of judah and he took the family of the zell rights [21:09] and he brought the family of the tsar heights man by man zab dye was taken [21:15] and he brought his household man by man and aiken tent and the silver under it [23:58] so joshua sent messengers and they ran unto the tin and behold it was hidden in his tent in the silver under it so he [24:04] checked out what he said and what do you got exactly what he said he stole the gold [24:09] and the silver the stuff that was supposed to be dedicated to the most hot guy that wasn't supposed to be here he [24:14] took it and he hit it in this darn tent right let's see what happened next [24:21] and they took them out of the midst of the ten and brought them unto joshua and unto the children of israel and laid them out before the lord [24:26] joshua and all israel with him took aiken the son of zera in the silver and the garment and the wedge of gold and [24:33] his sons and his daughters and his oxen and his donkeys and his sheep and his tent and all that he had and they [24:39] brought them onto the valley of acor so joshua said why have you troubled us the lord shall trouble you this day uh-huh [24:46] and all israel stoned him with stones and then what they do after that and burn them with fire right and first [24:52] thing they did they stoned them with stern stones and after that they burned them with fire [24:57] right keep going and burn them with fire and they had [25:02] after they had stoned them with stones uh-huh and they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day so the lord [25:10] turned from the fierceness of his anger wherefore the name of that place is called the valley of acor unto this day [25:16] right so now aiken will from what tribe judah who else is from judah yoshua yeah [25:21] oh sure a can become a curse for the whole people didn't he yeah he did and by him taking on that curse and the [25:27] punishment of that curse what happened with the people they'll say we take with us this time and you [26:25] shall do to ai and her king as you did unto jericho and her king only the spoil [26:30] thereof and the cattle thereof shall you take for a prey unto yourselves lay thee an ambush for the city behind it right [26:36] so now the difference with ai is he said we can take the spoil for ourselves here [26:43] so when we get to ai we can take their stuff whatever they got we can have it right keep going so joshua rose and all [26:50] the people of war to go up against ai and joshua chose out 30 000 mighty men of valor and sent them away by night and [26:57] he commanded them saying behold you shall lie in wait against the city even behind the city go not very far from the [27:03] city but be already and i and all the people that are with with me [27:10] will approach into the city and it shall come to pass when they come out against us at the first that we will flee before [27:16] them for they will come out after us until we have drawn them from the city for they will say they flee before us as at the [27:23] first therefore we will flee before them right so now naturally [27:28] we got whooped out by these boys so you guess what we don't want to do we don't want to take the boy's head up [27:35] right we're not we're not interested in necessarily going head up with them we know we got whooped out with them [27:41] already so josh was like you know what we going to do boy you know what i'm about [27:46] we're going to go up there i want y'all to go over there and hide [27:52] right so we take a big group of warriors and we hide off to the side then we take [27:57] another group and we gonna go as if we had going ahead up with him the last time we went ahead up with him what [28:03] happened he loves and what what did we end up doing as a result we ran away we ran right [28:09] so he's saying we're gonna go up to these boys and act like we're gonna head up then guess what we gonna do [28:15] we're gonna run away just like we did before and what they gonna do [28:20] they gonna chase us and then the boys that we got hiding over here what they gonna do [28:26] they gonna go sneak in take some stuff over the ones that's running away gonna turn around be like [28:32] ah just kidding fight them and then we're gonna take the place right so let's see how our play out [28:39] and that shows and it shall be when they have taken the city that you shall set the city on fire according to the [28:45] commandment of the lord shall you do see i have commanded you and joshua therefore sent them forth and they went [28:51] to lie in ambush in a bowl between bethel and ai on the west side of ai but joshua lodged that night among the [28:57] people and joshua rose up early in the morning and numbered the people and went up in the elders of israel before the [29:04] people of ai and all the people even the people of war that were with him went up and drew near and came before the city [29:10] and pitched on the north side of ai okay now there was a valley between them and ai and he took about 5 000 men and set [29:16] them to lie and ambushed between bethel and ai on the west side of the city right so he took 5 000 men and they put [29:23] him in ambush in other words they hit them so that they can you know i'm saying they can jump out at them right so they put the other ones in but 5 000 [29:30] of them what else and when they had set the people even all the hosts that was on the north of [29:37] the city in their in their liars in weight on the west side of the city joshua went that night [29:43] into the midst of the valley and it came to pass when the king of ai saw it that they hasted and rose up early in the men [29:49] of the city went out against israel to battle he and all his people at a time appointed before the plane [29:56] but he was not that there was liars and ambushed against him behind the city and joshua and israel made as if they [30:03] were beaten before them and fled by the way of the wilderness so they started running watch this and all the people [30:08] that were in ai were called together to pursue after them and they pursued after joshua and were drawn away from the city [30:15] and there was not a man left in ai or bethel that went not out after israel and they left the city open and pursued [30:21] after israel right so they left the city everybody left all the men left that was ready for war yeah all right left the [30:27] city open and then what else and the lord said unto joshua stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward ai for [30:34] i will give it into thy hand and joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city and the ambush [30:40] arose quickly out of their place and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand and they entered into the city [30:45] and took it and hasted and set the city on fire and when the men of ai looked behind them they saw and behold the smoke of [30:51] the city is send it up to heaven right so the men of ai they were chasing out there they chasing after one group of [30:57] israelites they you know they started noticing this smoke coming from they city they turn around look what happened [31:03] they had no power to flee this way or that way and the people that fled into the wilderness turned back upon the [31:09] pursuers and when joshua and all israel saw that the ambush had taken the city [31:14] and that the smoke of the city ascended then they turned again and slew the men of ai right so after we after we saw [31:21] like oh okay they when they were all falling on the edge of the sword until they were consumed that all the israelites returned the ai and smote it [31:56] with the edge of the sword and so it was that after that after that after all that fell that day both men and women [32:04] were 12 000 even all the men of ai but joshua drew not his hand back where with [32:09] he stretched out the spear until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of ai only the cattle and the spoil of the [32:15] city israel took for prey unto themselves according to the word of the lord which he commanded joshua [32:20] and joshua burned ai and made it a heap forever even a desolation until this day in the king of ai he hanged on a tree [32:27] until eventide and as soon as the sun was down joshua commanded that they gibeon [62:38] and all these kings in their land did joshua take at one time because the lord god of israel fought for israel and [62:44] joshua returned in all israel with him unto the camp of to the camp [62:50] to gilgal right so you look at what's happening there and and and joshua ended up taking [62:57] much more cities than this and uh you know later on the book could tell us you know what i'm saying uh it'll kind of [63:03] recap all the cities that he took but what he did he start taking a whole bunch of territory and they doing this [63:09] in a matter of they taking like one day's rest and then going back at it and taking another so this is amazing what's [63:16] happening right these are whole fights that's happening the most i got is helping us take these people out he got [63:22] potentially meteors and all this you know so you got stones coming from the sky dropping down killing people on our [63:28] behalf right and so we're trying to get through it let's keep going burnt their cherries with fire and joshua at that time turned back and took hazor and [65:45] smote the king thereof with the sword for hazor before time was the head of all those kingdoms [65:52] and they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword utterly destroying them there was not [65:58] any left to breathe and he burnt hazor with fire and all the cities of those kings and all the kings of them did [66:04] joshua take and smote them with the edge of the sword and he utterly destroyed them as moses the servant of the lord [66:10] commanded but as for the cities that stood still in their strength israel burned none of them except hazor only [66:16] that did joshua burn and all the spoil of these cities in the cattle the children of israel took for [66:21] prey unto themselves but every man they smote with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them neither left [66:27] they any to breathe as the lord commanded moses his servant so did moses commanded joshua so did [66:34] joshua he left nothing undone of all that the lord commanded moses you got to understand that joshua was a bad boy [66:41] right most like god put it on joshua's heart to go out and get it don't have no mercy on these people executed exactly [66:49] like moses said do it and that's what joshua did as long as he was running it right [66:54] keep going watch this so joshua took all that land the hills and all the south country and all the land of goshen in [66:59] the valley and the valley and the plain and the mountain of israel in the valley of the same [67:04] even from the mount halak that goes up to seer even unto bayal gad in the [67:10] valley of lebanon under mount hermon and all their kings he took and smote them and slew them and joshua made war a long [67:16] time with all those kings there was not a city that made peace with the children of israel except the hivites the [67:22] inhabitants of gibeon and all other they took in battle for it was of the lord to harden their [67:28] hearts that they should come against israel in battle that he might destroy them utterly and that they might have no [67:33] favor but that he might destroy them as the lord commanded moses and at that time came joshua and cut off [67:40] the anakims from the mountains from hebron from de beer from anab and from [67:46] the mountains of judah and from the mountains of israel joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities right so [67:51] he destroyed the anakims who remembers what the anakim are [67:58] hmm who remembers what the anakin mar ain't the anakin the giants the giants [68:07] right the anakin was the giants those are the ones that's part of the reason why we're here because these [68:13] people are mixing in with giants so now the most [73:26] so we won't we probably won't read all of it we'll get some of the highlights and then we'll look at visuals of the [73:32] territory because it's better to understand it's easier now for us to understand the actual territories with [73:37] the visual visuals but there's some details in there that we got to talk about like you know specific individuals are [73:43] assigned certain land and so we want to talk about why like caleb for example he's he's he's he's assigned hebron and [73:50] the reason why he's given that land has something to do with what the actions that he took and how he is courageous for the most hot guy before so we're [73:57] going to try to talk about some of those details and and how uh joshua i'm not joshua how joseph's land gets divvied [74:03] out and a few other things um because all this is important we're going to talk about how civilian gets his land [74:09] and how his land is divvied out and i'll leave the levites don't get any land right so we're going to talk about all [74:14] that part and try to try to make some sense of it next week any questions
